Operations
The operational arm of Ngaitai Iwi Authority is based in its offices located at Torere Marae in Torere. Prior to the present location, NIA had its’ first office at the Sea View building on State Highway 35 in Torere. After several hui were held within the community of Torere, it was agreed to relocate a building onto the Marae Reserve, to serve as the official office of NIA. In 1999 a new office building was built after the old one was relocated to the back of the Marae. Over the years, discussion and debate has abounded over moving the NIA office from the front of the Marae to another location. Pakeke have yet to agree to this move.
There are currently two operational sectors of NIA:
Corporate Services is the administration arm that maintains all the administrative requirements of the Runanga. With a current staff of two, we have a very busy team that carry a varied workload, that ranges from answering phones to assisting staff with program implementation.
Whanau Development focuses on providing programs and services that provide for the protection and enhancement of our rohe and its environs; along with .
